This Class Action lawsuit affirmed that the United States mishandled the personal property contained on the Hungarian Gold Train after the U.S. Army took such property into its custody at the conclusion of World War II, and the United States improperly disposed of the property. The settlement allocated approximately USD $21 million in compensation to fund social service programs for Hungarian Holocaust victims.
